The SIMAC Densomatic Press Grinder — it is tough not to get excited about this amazing piece of machinery and technology. Gasbarre has completed a new configuration of the world-renown Densomatic Press Grinder. This machine combines a number of processes into one automated work cell – that performs. The core feature of the Densomatic press is its multi-cavity isostatic pressing capability; the main press has six cavities that can press up to 11,600 psi along with 30 tons of axial clamp capacity. The unique and efficient pressure system for powder compaction employs the use of a forming fluid pressure intensifier mounted beneath the moving multi-cavity pressure vessel. If that doesn’t get you excited than I’m sure the following will: the main upper ram and upper tool are driven by and advanced technology Bosch Rexroth Cytrobox servo hydraulic pump system. The unit is equipped with a built in cellular modem card for remote (even if on the other side of the world) easy and quick management and maintenance. The power unit is the smallest, quietest, most accurate and fast hydraulic unit used to date by the Gasbarre team. The press produces compacted powder components at a rate of 55 parts per minute! The high productivity requires a specially designed flexible operation part handling system to move the pressed parts to a set of indexing takeaway conveyors. The takeaway conveyors provide pressed parts to the next process: green machining where a special profile is ground upon the pressed parts. The green machining is conducted by, not one, but two preform grinders. The eighteen station indexing work turret grinders are mounted one to the right and one to the left of the press. If you look closely at the picture below there are builtin drive belts that will take the parts from the press to the grinders on both sides and then from the custom grinders off the machine and onto a belt of your choice, possibly a belt to a furnace to be sintered. This press comes equipped w/ the newest state of the art HMI control system and electronics. Gasbarre’s new left and right grinders are separately controlled and managed and come equipped with the newest pick-off design!
