The day you buy a piece of equipment is just the first day of a long relationship with the manufacturer. Manufacturers push their equipment to its limits to maximize its technical capabilities and improve volume output. Because of this, every press or furnace fails eventually – and it’s never at a “good” time. The only question that matters at that point in time is who you have in your corner fighting for you. Gasbarre’s exceptional service was once again demonstrated, this time for an out-of-state customer in a near-perfect storm of bad timing. This customer, a manufacturer of automotive parts, had an important (and large) order to finish the week after Easter in 2019. The work was entrusted to a Gasbarre 550T Multi-Motion press, the workhorse of their stable of presses. Unfortunately, an electrical problem late in the week made life exciting for this PM parts manufacturer, in a way that only that select group can truly understand. A call to Gasbarre was made on Good Friday morning in hopes of assistance in finding and resolving remotely. Unfortunately, this did not work out. Elevating to the next step for most equipment manufacturers would have meant sending field service early the following week – best case. The result, a minimum of 4-5 days of lost production. For Gasbarre, this was an opportunity to shine. Of course, Gasbarre only shines because of our people. In this case one of our young electrical experts, with no prompting, volunteered to leave immediately on the 12 hours trip to the customer. He arrived late that night, was in the customer facility early Saturday, and had the problem resolved the same day, staying some of Easter Sunday “just to be sure”. Family is important to this young man, and this sacrifice in the service of our customer was indeed a big deal. Our customer was effusive in praise, met their shipment requirements, and kept a demanding customer happy!
