You can experience the benefits of the bright annealing of materials with annealing furnaces from Gasbarre. We design and manufacture our furnaces with quality and efficiency in mind, providing customers with industry-leading equipment they can trust.

What Is Annealing?

Annealing requires heating and holding at a suitable temperature and then cooling at a suitable rate for such purposes as reducing hardness, improving machinability, facilitating cold working, producing a desired microstructure (for subsequent operations) or obtaining desired mechanical, physical or other properties.*

What Are Annealing Furnaces?

Annealing furnaces support the annealing process by heating materials at high temperatures to alter their strength and hardness properties. They achieve these changes by heating products above their recrystallization temperatures and cooling them after the samples have endured the desired temperature for the proper length of time.

Annealing furnaces heat materials through three primary stages:

  1. Recovery: Furnace raises the temperature to relieve internal stress.
  2. Recrystallization: The Furnace heats the substance above its recrystallization temperature and below its melting point, resulting in grain formation.
  3. Grain growth: New grains develop as the material cools, making it more pliable.

What Is the Bright Annealing of Materials?

Bright annealing is a type of annealing process that occurs in a controlled atmosphere or vacuum containing inert gases to minimize oxidation. As a result, this method helps to generate a brighter and smoother surface with a thin oxide layer and improved corrosion resistance. Vacuum furnaces tend to achieve the most effective atmospheric quality for bright annealing processes.
